This time last year, cooler heads prevailed and I decided not to chop up my matching #'s S&W 1937 .45ACP revolver. As much as I like the 625, I'm not a fan of stainless. Being in California, options for handguns are pretty limited and we pay a premium for anything we can find.
I watched and waited and passed up a bunch of model 25's I was thinking of converting, but all had the oversized cylinders and I didn't want to pay a premium and then have to correct that issue.
After a year of patiently waiting and picking my best options, this pistol popped up at the beginning of the month and I paid a cool $1k (California luxury tax) for it. Came with the green TR carry case and appeared to be hardly used. Previous owner replaced the moon front sight with a hacked up Patridge that shot low. I put on the .250 SDM McGiven front sight and put the original moon sight away in the parts bin.
I told myself for years I'd never own a S&W with a lock and a lock plug is currently en route. Will get some Altmamont panels to use with a t grip to replace the TR stocks which I'll put away for safe keeping.
Gun shot beautifully at 7, 10, and 15 yards. Very accurate (but low with the hack sight). Single and double action very nice.
