Default Some good S&W's coming my way

While in Austin last weekend, I found out my uncle left me quite a few firearms. These have been in his safe a LONG time. I am going back in a few weeks to look at them all, make an inventory list and see what I got.

The only one I know for sure is as follows. I "think" its quite valuable but until I research, I wont know for sure. I plan on selling most of them, some I will keep.

Model 25-2, 6" blue, wooden box, blue velvet, all tools and paper work. Gun is NIB, never fired, does have very faint cylinder ring. Serial # N613XXX

What do I have?
Thanks !!!

I would only sell if you're in dire financial straights.

a) all old S&Ws in good or better condition appreciate in value well beyond inflation. So even if guns aren't your hobby/deal, there's a purely financial argument for hanging on to them. Make sure they're insured via your home or renter's policy. Most max at about $2k-$3k without paying extra, which could only be 2-3 nice guns these days.

b) If you ever get a hankering to replace NIB/LNIB/excellent S&Ws, it's very difficult outside the online auction sites or the really high-end in-person auctions. Plus, they won't be "family" guns.

I say this as a guy who has sold a lot of inherited items, but never any guns, even the very ordinary ones. They are a connection to the past, not to mention "unpapered".

I agree. Firearms are better than silver as investments, and maybe even gold. Keep them.

Don't matter what the value is, unless your uncle wanted you to sell them. Otherwise, they are something he wanted you to have, and you shouldn't put a dollar value on those kind of gifts.

Keep them. Study this site and take the advice given here. Buy a good safe without electronic keypad.
