My two latest J's from the '90s
I filled in two holes in the want list. Another Chiefs Special, and for as new as it is, one I don't often see offered. The other is another Centennial, finally a 9mm without a silly price tag.
The excellent condition 36-9 is from '98. It came with the box and goodies for $395 out the door so I sure don't feel bruised. It fills the top spot in my quest to pick up all the Chiefs dash numbers through 1999. The search continues for -4, -5, and -8.
The '93 940 has seen some use, but is still in very good condition for $560. It came with smooth rosewoods so I dug around in the drawer till I found the Hogue Bantams -- they're not the authentic Uncle Mikes, but I like these a bit better.
Thanks for stoppin' by to have a look.
Slàinte,
Bob

Great deal on the 940, really want one of those. I really like 9mm S&W revolvers; I have two 547s. 'Till I can find a reasonably priced 940, I bought a Ruger LCR9 in the interim. I prefer those Hogues to the Uncle Mikes, I have a set on my 442 and 642, and if I get a 940, it'll wear those too.

My Hogue Bantams came on another used Centennial I bought last spring. I really didn't give them a chance before replacing them with that gun's correct wood stocks. The Bantams move my middle finger's middle knuckle further down the back of the trigger guard so there's no chance the guard will hammer my knuckle with each shot.

Very nice!
I bought my first .38 snub (a NIB 60-12) in Aug of '98 with one of my first paychecks from Uncle Sam as a new Army 2LT. I still carry it regularly.
The pre-lock, post-MIM, late 90's - early 00's Tompkins S&W revolvers seem to be extremely high quality, something that generally went downhill once Saf-T-Hammer came into the picture.

Without shame I'll admit I didn't hold high hopes for the 36-9. It surprised me. The fit and finish are outstanding, and it locks up like my Ram's brakes on an icy highway. I can tell from the cylinder face it's been fired, but the previous owner(s) took great care of it. The action -- single or double -- is terrific. Happy guy!
