Default Is Cerakote removable

Got a chance to pick up a 3" S&W not sure the model mabey 64? no sights. anyway, it used to be my gun. I bought it a long time ago and like a dummy, had it coated in some coating, before Cerakote. anyway, I have a chance to buy it back for what I sold it for $400. Can I have the coating bead blasted off and start new?

Well, it depends. If it's a paint-type coating, then probably. If it's a hard-chrome type, then probably not. Do you know which type it might be?

Did you have it coated in something and then have it Cerakoted ?
If some type of air cured or oven cured finish probably so. That's basically an epoxy type paint . Armoloy , industrial hard chrome, Robar NP3 or NP3+, will be harder to remove but Maybe. Not sure how much bead blasting will be required and what will happen to roll marks.
Black wet or dry abrasive , oil and a lot of elbow grease might get it removed .

I think I would let that one continue flying free and begin tracking down something else with less hassle and more originality. That's just me.

Cerakote is a painted-on finish and can be removed via bead blasting.

Why would you put a coating on stainless steel? I could maybe see Hard Chrome but nothing else.

I tend to agree. On the other hand, this 648 has kind of grown on me since I bought it some years ago.
