Default Info on a 17-6

I just picked up a full lug 4" 17-6. Shop said the S&W finger grip stocks are not correct and they should be checkered. They look like some of the other 17-6 photos I've seen.

Serial number puts it in 1991 range from what I can find on the internet.

No box and with the exception of turn line it's unblemished. I'm thinking I did ok for $600 OTD. I can't afford a Diamonback so this will do.

How uncommon is the 4" and are the wood finger groove stocks correct?

Thanks

Not certain about the 4" but all the 6-inch full lugs I have seen and/or owned wear smooth finger-groove combats. I don't know why the 4" would Not have them................. but someone else can chime in and educate all of us.

Y'all take care, Bo

PS: You got a Great Deal on that one!!! Good Score!

$600 for a 4" full lug 17 with combats sounds like a no brainer to me. We need pics though.

Pictures have become a PITA since PB changed their policies. I had 2 people looking at it while I was checking out, with that "look".

I've owned several 17's, K22, 22/32, etc, but this is the first full lug 4". I like the heft. If it shoots well tomorrow it will be a keeper.

$600.00 is way below the market. Finger groove combats were standard issue for that gun. Enjoy it.

My 17-6 4" has finger groove targets. It is one of the best shooting k-22s that I own. You did well for $600, not a gun that pops up for sale every day. Shoot, clean, repeat. Pass it to your kids and they can pass it to their kids.
