Default Mdl 37 date pls.

Was hoping I can get a date for a pinned Mdl 37 - he says no dash - SN 732XX I've been looking at. Thanks.

1962--295000. 1969--786544. This is what I found. In The standard catalog of Smith and Wesson. Fourth edition. I don't know why it's sideways. I don't have Grandchildren to show me how to use my phone.

If it is with no letter prefix, likely 1955. If he is quoting an assembly number, all bets are off .

If it is stamped as a model 37, then it can't be from 1955. S&W didn't use model numbers then. I think the first model numbers were about 1958.

Either we are mistaking an assembly number for a serial number, or we are missing an 'x'.
