Question on new 442 PC Pro Series
Hey all,
I'm considering getting a new PC 442 PC Pro Series. I like that it has no lock, no external hammer and a matte black finish.
My question is on the moon clip cut cylinder. I've read that you can shoot it without the moon clip, but doing so increases that chances of the primer not going off. Is there something to this? I've never owned a moon clip cut revolver.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I have a couple of moonclip revolvers (325 and 625) and can shoot loose .45s in them just fine. Whether that will be true for the .38s, I don't know. One thing I do know is that having gotten used to the moonclip thing, I'm sold on the idea. I can hold the cartridge assembly three inches above the cylinder, drop it, and bingo! it's loaded. I smile every time.

I have a 640PRO, which is cut for moon clips, and took it to a Snubby Revolver class at TDI Ohio.
Fired 800-850 rounds through it in 2 days and not a problem one and did not use the moon clips. I have also fired it outside of this class and no issues.
Others in the class also used the same revolver and I think the only issue I recall was a bent moon clip at one time, but I may be mistaken on that.
When I choose to carry it the moon clip on the first load comes in handy because then you will get solid ejection on your first five rounds should you ever (heaven forbid you have to use it much less reload it) have to reload.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to remember where I read that primer non-ignition might be an issue on loose rounds. I read a bunch of reviews online over the past few days. Could just be internet gibberish.

My 686pro runs Ultramax, Fiocchi, Wolff, precision delta, CCI and winchester 38 and 357 without problem, with or without.

I think it was here on the Forum in the post about 625's and moon clips.
I've never had that problem but I have had problems with moon clipped ammo in 625's not igniting reliably. Never owned a moon clipped J frame.

I have one 642 PC with the moonclip option. I placed the clips back in the factory box and have not seen them since. There is no problem using factory standard pressure or +P ammunition without the clips in this 642.
