NEW HERE, .460 QUESTIONS
Hi,
I am new to this forum but seen many posts from google searches and decided to join. I am buying a .460 14 inch barrel and looking into a couple things and have questions.
1. I am really considering Nill Master II grips. Any Pics of those on these type guns?
2. Does it effect recoil?
Thank you for your time and efforts.

My post probably won't help much. The only thing I know about Nill grips is that they are European, wood and very expensive.
I do have a .460 Magnum and the rubber grip works tremendously well, and this grip is specific to X-frames and has an insert designed to improve shock reduction.
I had no idea that Nill made grips for a S&W X-frame, I can only imagine that they would be even more torture on the hands than they are sure to be on the wallet.
Probably look gorgeous, though.

Here's a set of Nill's on my 460 - don't recall the specific type/model #.
I have fairly large hands & wasn't interested in the rubber grips.

How does the recoil compare to the stock rubber? What rounds do you use?

I never used the rubber grips!
With 454 casull's its pretty tame. The CorBon 275g 460 load gets my attention but its manageable with the nill's.

Here are some Nills I got with a 500 I just bought off a family member. Have not shot it with them on yet. Staying with the factory Goodyears to get started.

I know they probably don't compare to those (beautiful) Nills, but I run Altamont grips on my 460v (5" bbl) and I don't have too much trouble with full house 240gr bullets running 1700fps. I bet the shape of those Nills do their part to help with recoil too..

they do look great! I also seen a pic on there of a 460 with the Hogue rubber with wood butt, I wonder how that feels since it has the open back.
what are some other big grip options?

Not pimpin' for these guys, but if you like the Nills-look you owe it to yourself to check out these grips...
Smith&Wesson K & L Frame Roundbutt - KSD GRIPS
I have them on my 627-4PC and the fit & finish are terrific - these were purchased several years ago when KSD was just getting a foothold in this country, so I can't address quality of today's production, but being a glass-half-full kind of guy, I'd bet they are still GTG.
A .460 huh? If it were me it would be Smith's (Hogue's) X-frame grips all the way - but then I'm a wuss and use them on my .45 ACP and .38 Spl guns in IDPA.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Adios,
Pizza Bob

You are going to love that big boomer... l have a 10 1/2'' w/brake. 0ne
lesson learned the hard way was NOT to shoot 45Colt ammo in mine..
They deposit carbon on the cylinder wall.. lf longer 460 rounds were shot
next, they were nearly impossible to extract.. Had to use a dowel rod to
get the 460 cases out.. l then polished the chambers with a bit of Flitz..
Took me forever to get the residue out... Never shot a short case in the
gun again.. l simply took a page from rifle reloaders who shoot light
loads... l use a bit of filler in the case to keep the powder in place near
the primer... Nice plinking 45Colt loads without the short case headache.
l have an old Model 70 in 458 Win Magnum, been shooten light cast boolit
and 45-70 loads in it for years...

thats a good tip. I think its cool to have the ability to used 3 different rounds, but I never intended to use anything but .460 for that reason. I ordered the nill grips today. im excited to see them. In the options section i put"DARKEST WOOD PLEASE"
