being i have a gunsmith working on my 627 pro, just wondering what you folks are using as a moon clip demooner. on the moon clip, the rims of 38/357 are very close together, any one have an idea, or suggestion? my 45 demooner does work, but looking for some thing better. thanks...sw dan

I have a 45 and a smaller 38 demooner. I also use needle nose pliers to load them up. Many shooters use the BMT Mooner tool. I also have one but for some reason, just like the "one at a time" method.

I made a batch of tools that work like the Brownells tool pictured below
Using copper tubing, mine is open all the way through. So when the brass is free from the clip it slides through the tool into the bucket sitting on the floor.

You just make the 1/2 moon cut on the end of your tubing and you are good to go. I used that foam style pipe insulation as a grip.

Around $10 in junk parts built 4 of them for 45, 10MM, 357 and 9MM

Some folks have used old golf club shafts instead of tubing or pipe.

I made mine out of a 9/16" snap-on nut driver...........before that, I used to use a oil pump drive Rod from an old Ford 289 engine off of a 65' Ford mustang.

You can use anything really.

BMT moon clip tool. All of the above work, but nothing works as easy or fast for loading and unloading the clips. The clips are never bent or twisted and they last longer. You'll forget the price after you use it.

BMT is the way to go-I ended up buying them for my 627,625,929.

For my 627, I just use my knife blade to pry them out. The last one I just yank out. Maybe my clips just aren't all that tight.

I have a Dillon moonclip tool that I like for .45ACP. Never used it for .357, but there is a demooning loop for it.

I like the "CCW Moon Clip Loading/ Unloading Tool" from Dillon. I've been using one for quite a while, it works great.
