Default S&W Model 25-7

Can anyone help me with some info on my S&W 25-7 Model of 1989. From what i can find out there were only 2000 of these made. They were a dull black finish instead of blue and i think they came with Hogue grips. I know other Model 25 models were blue finish with wood grips. Any further info would be appreciated. Thanks

Sir.
Had two of them at one time. Very accurate for 45 Colt. Sought after by many S&W fans. Special run for Hill Distributing company.
Very good S&W to have and shoot.
There is a thread on this forum, this section from 03-23-2017 that is about 25-7's and grips. Also a few pics of guns. Mine are in the thread.

Here's mine, bought it new in 89.

Accurate doesn't even begin to cover it.

My load is a home cast 255g RNFP over 9g Unique.

They're tough to find, and expensive when you see them. I bought one a few months back with the box and all of the paperwork with it. Haven't shot it yet, but plan too. Aren't to many of them around though..

Yes, 2000 pieces of the 45 Caliber Model of 1989 (product code 100924) were produced.

The Model 25s in this configuration began production at the -7 engineering revision and completed production during the -9 engineering revision. It is unknown how many of each engineering revision exist.

Many of us do not want to part with ours. These are accurate big bore N-frames that balance very nicely in the hand

Default 25-7

Thanks for the info. Looked up the other post from back in March also. What would a revolver like this be worth? I do not have the box.

Welcome to the FORUM! I think that the 25-7's are "BEAUTIFUL"! They sure do something for me. I have a 25-15 in 45Colt. Bob

I have one that I picked up many years ago from a guy walking around with it at a gun show. Its absolutely the very best and most accurate .45 Colt S&W ever made.
No way I'll sell mine for any price.

I had one years ago that a friend now has. Like others have mentioned, these guns are above average in accuracy. I believe this is a result of S&W tightening up the chamber throats to .452. They did come from the factory with rubber grips. I cannot remember if they were Hogue's or Pachmayr's. I was not a huge fan of the matte finish with the unfluted cylinder........kinda pedestrian..........something you would expect to see being carried by a rural police officer back in the day. I let it go when I picked up a 625-5 Classic. That gun is a super shooter.

I will also +1 to what others have mentioned regarding the accuracy of this fine revolver. Mine is a -9 though, so I believe there were some slight changes made between the two. I don't reload yet but I've found that the 5 inch barrel is the perfect weight and balance for all 45LC ammo I've tested.

I bought it with the round butt pachs on it and have since swapped them for wood. I would not take $1200 for mine.
