Default 625 rear sight????

Recently picked up a model 625 in 45acp. Great gun, but the rear sight has a really small notch in the bottom of it. I've looked at it, but can't tell if it's factory, which I have my doubts, but am not sure. Here are some pics, see what you think. Thanks for your opinions...

Not factory and the rear sight slide is easily replaced for less than $20 for the parts. Other than looking funny it really does no harm. Can't imagine what someone was trying to do as this is too small to use with even a 1/16" bead front sight if you had one.

Yes, it's a really small groove. When I bought the gun I didn't even notice it...guess that's why I'm going in for some stronger readers....old eyes ain't what they're used too...Thanks alk
