Projected usage will impact what works best. If you plan to shoot paper or tin cans, a low profile is fine, but for hunting or competition, the larger the area of the sight, the faster you'll be able to pick up the dot.
Leupold makes a nice one that allows you to change the battery without any tools and turns on automatically when it senses motion. But like all Leupold products, it's not cheap. But it also has a lifetime warranty, and the company has been around for a long time.
