Default "Ramped" front sight available for a "625"?

I have a current production 625, "Jerry Miculek" version that I want to swap out the Patridge front sight on to a ramped front sight. The Patridge front sight is really nice and easy to pick up on target. However, after practicing a rather quick draw from my concealment Body Holster that I wear when jogging and walking the dogs; the Patridge sight snagged on my shorts and the bottom of the holster material causing an anything but smooth presentation. Upon reholstering and drawing again, same snagging, but this time the front sight was missing. I found it in the body holster. It had simply, popped out of place. So over to the gunbench and 7 minutes later the sight was firmly back in place. I use this pistol for the aforementioned and as my primary "Woods Gun" for family hikes, fishing, kayaking, etc. Snagging and a missing front sight on this revolver is unacceptable.

My question is: Are there factory replacements or aftermarket "Ramped" front sights currently available for the "N" frame model 625? If so, I'd really appreciate if you could point me to a website or a link to the part. I'd prefer to have an orange insert in the Ramp Sight but isn't a deal killer if not. My "Google" skills, while usually are good, have let me down. Thanks fellas!

Thank you Gentlemen. The only "N" frame ramped front sight I can find online says it's for the M629... The bottom of the sight part/profile, (that part that locks the sight into the barrel by a roll pin and a spring loaded detent), looks exactly like my current Patridge sight but I'm almost positive it won't work with my 625 considering the Patridge is only .229" tall. I'm going to call Smith tomorrow. Maybe they will send me a ramp sight that fits for free or at least a discount considering their Patridge sight came off/out so easily. I'll be sure to request a replacement spring for the detent as well because the stock spring felt pretty weak re-installing the oem sight that fell off... Thanks again for the info and the contact telephone #...

I suspect your front sight is pinned to the base... and then the ends of the pins were polished off. I wanted to holster my M25-2 and I hand carried the gun to the service center in Springfield (as officers were permitted to do back then). The tech return my original sight to me in the S&W sealed bag with the sheared pins. He explained the techique was to smack the sight just so... shearing the pins. The new sight was drilled & the new pins installed. The new pins are visible.

If you can't find what you want, I can make you one. You can remove the pin and take out the plunger and spring and stretch the spring a bit or just put in a stronger spring. You can get 1/8" ball detent springs from Brownell's that you cut to the desired length.

ToolGuy, I just might take you up on your offer if I can't source the correct height ramped sight from Smith & Wesson. The profile I want/need to run this revolver as a wood carry piece and drawing from the holster is like this one linked below. 899000000 Smith & Wesson New N Frame Model 629 Front Sight Magna Class - USA Guns And Gear
The bottom profile of this ramped sight is exactly the same as the factory Patridge sight that fell off and I reinstalled Friday night. I'd never seen a front sight made that installs like this and I've replaced quite a few sight sets. Thanks for the spring info/advice as well.

I have a factory one of those I can send you for $40 + shipping. A custom one in black serrated would be $60. PM me if interested.

Is the height of the factory orange insert ramped front sight .229"? All the one's I can find exactly like that are mentioned specifically for the 629 Classic and are 1/4 to almost 1/2" too tall/high... I'm calling Smith and Wesson shortly about a replacement sight so I'm hoping they will send me one. If not I'll let you know.

Just got off the phone with the good people at Smith & Wesson. I told them the original "Patridge" sight is popping out 1 out of 20 draws/presentations from a nice and smooth leather holster. I told him my sight is .229" according to my Micrometer. He said that it's actually .243" and that it certainly is interchangeable with their ramped front sight with the orange insert, same exact size. David asked me for my name again and my address. Next I was expecting David to ask for my CreditCard #... But he just said: " I'm sending you our ramped sight with insert, .243" tall. I was elated. This mimics the customer service I had with S&W 7 years ago with worn out magazine springs for an M&P40 and a missing factory mag with an M&P40c model. S&W knows that sending a customer a part or 2 every 5-10 years will keep us happy and buying their products and convince others to as well... Very "Long Sighted" in the short and long run. Thumbs up S&W! Thanks again any way ToolGuy. I really appreciate your willingness to help!

I'll post pics of the new ramped sight when it gets here and I install it. It's a 7-10 minute job. Range report to discuss POA/POI at a later date!

Oh yes, I found many. However, all were .268"or a bit higher and specifically said for the 629, .44mag in their product details even though they also said will fit all current "N" frames. If they were the right height I would have went that route first. S&W got me the .243" sight with insert for free. I'm elated!
