Question Model 617

I have a S&W Model 617 with a 6" barrel but would like to replace the barrel with an 8 3/8". My question: Is the 6" barrel that I currently have "Crush Fitted" into the current frame or can it easily be removed and replaced. If it can be replaced, will the S&W Custom Shop do the replacement?

The current barrel is "crush fit". It can easily be removed and replaced by someone with the proper tools and knowledge.

Thanks for the information. Now all I need to do is find an 8 /38" barrel for the 617. I do not this that S&W has any or plans to make any in the near future.

Thanks again for the info

If you give S&W your gun and a credit card number. They just might have one on the shelf.

Have you called?
