Default My New 686-3

I picked this up yesterday. It's a 686-3 with 4" barrel. I had previously owned a 586 with 4" barrel, but I gave it to my brother. I'm guessing this will be a great replacement.

You will love it and they are exceptionally accurate! I'm sure you already know that from your experience with the 586.

Classic revolver and a great looking one as well!

Saw a 6" recently like yours. Had the adjustable front sight. I'm guessing the front sight is Factory? Never seen one, so just curious. Also the one I saw was DAO. Backed away. Figured the sight may be original but the DAO scared me away.

The Adjustable Front Sight is a factory option. My brother and I bought one each of these at a gun show at Dallas, TX, Market Hall, back around '87. The 4-Way Adjustable Front Sight option was available for sure on the -1's as well as the -2's like mine. I'm not sure if they carried over to any other engineering changes. So far as the DAO version you encountered; I would say that was definitely not factory, although the sights likely were.

By the way, my brother sold his 686-2 to my dad, but when he died, by brother talked my sister into giving it back to him, so we both still have our AFS 686-2's.
