Actually, prior to the introduction of the Model 65, Smith and Wesson did manufacture the Model 64 in 357 Magnum (P&R) for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol

+1
M64-1. I had one until last year before selling to an OHP trooper's son.
OHP badge #383 on the gun and in serial number, complete with factory wooden case and cardboard sleeve, etc. Sometimes wish I'd kept it but it went to a good home.
ETA:
IIRC and without looking it up, the first 750 were numbered with OHP badge on right side but app. 1200+ M64-1's in .357 were made before standardizing it as the M65. And IIRC again, they were all referred to as OHP models even those without the shield. Those that didn't go to fulfill the OHP contract were sold to various wholesale dealers. Although I've not seen one, there should be a few hundred 4" .357 M64-1's without the OHP marking floating around.

Come on, give the guy a little slack, OK. We all make a mistake from time to time. No need to be rude.

You got me. I've been accused of being a lot of things but being a good reader isn't one of them.

Oh, and I should at least get partial credit for my previous answer since the stainless 357 model numbers do start with a six.

No big deal. I got your point. And I promise to pay more attention to details next time so as not to embarrass myself.
