Probably about the going price for a NIB 547 three inch. Almost never see them these days. Missed one by a few minutes at a pawn shop four or five years ago and haven't seen one for sale locally since. They're out there I'm sure but there can't be too many NIB ones. Anybody who knows what they've got likely won't sell for much less. Good luck.

Why is that crazy? Out of production for decades, the 3" was the more desirable, and you are saying it is NIB.......you expecting to find something like that for $600?

I found my 3'' a couple years ago for a price under 900 dollars and that was with the 7% sales tax.

Gun was at IMHO 92%. Just gun no docs or box but after looking for a few years I was happy to get it and it was only 60 miles from my house. I had just had my CC charged and the receipt in hand when another fellow came through the door looking to purchase it!

Have not seen or heard of another for sale in the area!

Added. That gun fits my its not rare, but its also not common list!

Its also a very good shooter though the trigger pull is stiffer than I like. Its got to be stiff because of the other pin that holds the cartridge from moving. I was also told by a dealer that was shooting next to me that it was also designed to be used in Europe and Israel and their ammo many times goes in buzz guns and the primer over there takes more oomph to set it off.

And that is the key to understanding why they are priced what they are. The prices on my HK P7 have done the same thing in the last few years........and NONE of those are NIB....

Probably worth $2500 or more if really NIB. I was looking for a shooter 547 and dropped out at $2k for a few before I snagged mine for about $1800 with shipping and transfer fees.

I couldn't be more pleased as the condition was much better than I expected. The photos on the auction site made it look like it had fine scratches on it that kept the bidding low enough for me to win it under my $2k self imposed limit. Once in hand it was scratch and ding free with no turn line or holster wear, 99% ANIB as far as I could tell.

Here's my track on the 3-inch:

Smith & Wesson 547 3” RB
Revolver in 9x19. Blue Book of Gun Values (38th Edition) indicates between $633 in 95% condition and $1100 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 74 recorded prices for this model gun from $500 to $2280 over a period of 13 Yrs 10 Mos ending June 18, 2017. The average price as of that date was $863. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $317. The last 10 prices I have for this model since 8/15/2012 range from $650 to $2280 averaging $1323.

I dropped out of the auction that went to $2280 at $2k but won mine on the next 547 offered for $1650. My bid on that one went to $2000 as well but didn't have to go that far to get it.

No box or anything but the gun itself. I feel like I got a bargain on mine considering it's near new condition. The weapon feels great in hand, perfect balance and points naturally. I've tried several grips on it and the Hogue laser grips are the best fit for my hands.

I carry the 547 AISW in a Kydex holster with my 915 in left hand Kydex for small of back carry as back-up to the 547 when "going heavy"

Not a light gun, but the weight is comforting and easily managed when in Appendix carry.

Adding the laser is a very positive thing for me as adding night sights are not an option without major gunsmithing. I also painted the sights with a glow in the dark paint. Activating them with my 1000 lumen tactical light lasts for about 10 minutes and they are far brighter than Tritium sights once activated.

No safe queen, I shoot it regularly and carry it often. When the turn ring appears it will be mine.

I bought this one earlier this year. The gun was in the box and had been fired, but not much. I would rate it in the high 90's, probably about 98%. It had the magna grips shown below. I have since replaced them with round butt targets. As it is a later shipped gun I don't know whether the gun was shipped with the magnas or whether somebody changed them after it shipped.

I got it at a gun show. The dealer was asking $1100 and I got it for $1000 OTD. It was a deal and I knew it. It was the first one, and only three inch, that I have ever seen. I did see a four inch later which sold for quite a bit more.

Holy Moly!

For those prices I'm even more firm in my belief that semi-auto calibers should be relegated to semi-auto guns. Never had interest in a revolver that shoots semi-auto calibers.

Apparently there are many who don't feel this way. So enjoy! No competition from me.

We (wife/me) now have 4 Semi auto 9s available and the 547. The revolver is more accurate and far less kick than the autos. I did not get it to be a carry gun but I know if put into that job it would do well. I live in NY and mags over 10 rounds are not legal.

I get a chance of getting a 4'' without taking out a mortgage it will be added to my accumulation!

Prices like we are seeing on 547's, simply by the raw number of production... make the PC pistols seem like complete bargains at the prices they trade at, typically eye-popping for folks that aren't aware of them. Here is a model that is somewhat of an oddity but still just a production gun (not that there is anything whatsoever wrong about a production gun... but certainly not a hand-fit elite target pistol like the PC Limited guns) and with the 547, they made them 6x, 8x, 10x and higher compared to the PC pistols.

So maybe someone gasps when they see a 952 going for $2,800...
But folks believe that $1200-$2,000 for a 547 is "about right" ?!

The market is interesting, that's for sure.

Apologies for comparing them to PC semiautos rather than PC revolvers -- I'm simply not at all informed on the PC revolvers, production numbers, etc.

Lots of, mostly, Scottish blood in me so I can't pay those prices. About a year ago on "not the big auction site" I picked up this one for $700 otd. Now that I've finally found a 940 for $560 I'll carry the 547 through the winter and use the 940 as a bug when I feel a need.

Cheers,

Bob
