Model 60 w/3 inch barrel ? Bought Pics in Post 11
A local shop has a Model 60 in .38 special with the full underlug 3 inch barrel and adjustable sights for $559.00.
I was curious if that was good price for this particular model.
I could have sworn it was a -1 but had a RB and I didn't have my glasses so it could be -4 based off what I have read.
It has a pinned front sight and to be honest I did not look at the barrel.
In decent shape but I don't believe it has box or any extras with it.
RB Uncle Mikes style grips, which appear to be original.

Sounds like a M60-4, product code 102298. They were cataloged and in production in the 1989 to 1996 time frame. Uncle Mike grips were standard.
It's a common variation made in large numbers, and sought after by shooters, woodsmen, and collectors. Many members on this forum have (or want) one. It can even be used for concealed carry, perhaps not ideally.
Though it a .38 Spl only, it's sometimes discribed as a "miniature Model 686" based on its looks. The one you describe shows some wear and has no box, even so, $559 is not an unreasonable price.

Guys, the OP wrote it is a model 60 .
The only 3" full lug barrel, .38 Special with an adjustable sight would be a 60-4. $559 is an average price for one in good condition. They are highly sought after and very nice plinking/trail carry guns.

$559 is a better than "average" price for a 60-4, at least in my neck of the woods, unless it's just the gun. If it has the original box and all the goodies, then it's worth quite a bit north of that price. Keep us posted and let us know what happens. Pics are required!

Oops.... you are right, should have looked a bit higher.
In that case, as you point out, the M60-4 is 38 special. Thought I had a product flyer for that, but can't locate it now... Here's a pic.
Per the above, there was a later version of the M60 in .357 Mag (believe it was a M60-10?), here's the flyer for that:

I went back by to take another look, with my glasses, and it is a 60-4 in .38 Special.
Not to banged up but does have a small spot of rust (which struck me as odd) on the thumb piece side at the bottom of the cut out for the cylinder area to the rear. To be safe I had him pop off the grips and everything under there looks to be good.
He told me $525.00 cash out the door.

Well if that were me and it passed my normal revolver check list the gun would be mine!

I had one. Sadly, I sold it to a friend for $400. If I found another one for $559 I'd be all over it. Later iterations of the same revolver are available in .357 Magnum. I suppose I'd settle for one of those but I'd never shoot full house magnums in it. That just seems dumb to me.

Man, you guys are bad for the bottom line!
Here she is. Needs some cleaning up, no box, but overall in pretty good shape.
525 out the door so that equates to around 480.00 plus tax.

Man what I would do for one of those. I passed on a 60-10 last year and I've been regretting it ever since

I have a -4 (.38) and dash -10 (.357). Love them both. I had the -14 or -15 (can't remember which) that was the same thing with the lock. Couldn't handle having a lock gun in my stash so I sold that one.

Cool variations of the Js. Wasn't aware of 3" full underlug examples. I bet it makes for a fine shooting 38.

Yes. Both of my M-60-4's have thought they were K-38's. I'm not going to tell them otherwise.
They have even greater compactness than a .22 Kit Gun, but with more power and greater ammo.
flexibility.
However, in a small .357, I prefer the Ruger SP-101. Mine is old enough that it has the old solid trigger, not the hollow-backed trigger that looks like they got it off of a Daisy BB gun!

Cool gun, and those are the original style stocks. Do they number to the gun? .
You did well at $480, and we knew all you needed was a little urging. Enjoy!

Money comes and goes but I'll bet that little Model 60-4 will stay with you. They're terrific little guns. Congratulations on your new revolver!

They do feel good on her but ironically I am sitting on a pair of the J Frame combats and a very nice pair of banana grips that I may have to take a look at on her.
Then I ordered a pair of Spegals for my 640, that are the larger size in Cocobola that I may have to see how the fit since they are cut for the Centennial style.
Man this decision just keeps getting harder.

Very nice pick up. You will love shooting it.
My wife and I own 3 of these. Interesting observation. Your gun has a black front sight, as do 2 of mine. One of mine has a red ramp front sight and white outline rear sight.
Over the years I have never seen another with the R/R W/O sights.
Anyone here have one like that?

I was just shooting my 60-15 (the .357 version of yours, w/IL) today.
.38s are creampuffs through it, and I think full-house .357s are at least controllable with the right grips, if not quite pleasant.

@OP,
Nice revolver. I have the limited run 36-6, the carbon steel version of yours, and I would never sell it! My 36-6 thinks it is a K38, and it keeps up with them. My 36-6 holsters easily IWB or OWB. I am certain that you will be happy with your's and never miss the 357 capability.
I wish you the best with yours!

Did you do well? Ask any member of this forum if they would sell you THEIR Model 60-4 for $480... no takers huh? While you're at it you could ask whether anyone who had one and sold it for ANY price is happy they sold it. I rest my case!
I got mine two years ago NIB in a very favorable "friends and family" deal for $600 and if I were reduced to selling my guns to be able to eat or whatever the Model 60-4 would be one of the very last to leave my tear-stained presence.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it! BTW, you really didn't find that gun to have a pinned barrel after all, did you?

Love my 3" Model 60-10 (.38/.357) for short hikes.
It came with UM Combats but wearing Siles in this picture. Siles are easier to conceal.

I had one like yours and sold it, regretted it until I found a 60-15. Miss the TT and TH of the -4, and usually shoot +Ps in it anyway. All are winners, but I would love a -4 or -10. Saw a -4 about 4 years ago, very beat up, for $900. Passed. You did well!

I have had my 60-4 since they were first offered. I have taken a number of cottontail and snowshoe rabbits while bird hunting as well as a number of sitting and wounded grouse. They are a DANDY field revolver!
I was hoping for a 4" barreled .38 Special "Kit Gun" when at the Indianapolis 500 Gun Show. I bought the 60-4 but didn't think it would truly fill the bill because of the 3" barrel. When I got home, I immediately took it to my local club's indoor range (it was winter time). Several of the club's pistol shooters were there. My first target, the timed fire target at 50', showed a 96/100. The other members eyes nearly bugged out. I was pleasantly surprised, too, I can tell you. As a result, several of the others immediately ordered THEIR 60-4's.
It has proven to be a great addition to my using collection...
