Default Took my 627 Pro for a spin

And was reminded what it can do. Was very accurate, smooth, what a great wheelgun should be.

Will be taking it to a local competition this month and wanted to sight it in w/ the different ammo I got. Once I got it dialed in, was dead on- any variations were my fault.

Will report of my results later this month.

Is this the 4" bbl 8-shot model? I've been considering this version and would love to hear some hands-on experience. Thank in advance!

Yep. That’s what it is alright. Mine has got to be my favorite revolver though truthfully I probably shoot my K frames better.

One by one, I bought a .357 in a J, K, L, then my 627Pro for an N frame. I was skeptical I would feel much difference when shooting .357 Mag through the N frame compared to an L frame, but I do find the N frame more comfortable/controllable.

For .38 Special, they're all good.

I have 2, a 4" and a 5". They are both great shooters. I use them for local matches.

Another endorsement for the 8-shot 4" 627 Pro. Mine needed nothing out of the box, so I just gave it a gold-bead Patridge front sight and went to town. It shoots hot .38s every bit as well as my 38-44 Outdoorsman, which is saying something.

Yup that’s the one as epj posted. I like it enough to consider getting one of the other 627s, perhaps a PC 2 in....

Chance to show off new grip!

Sorry it's dirty, but it's always dirty! This one doesn't miss a range trip. Definitely my favorite revolver. There's a steel bay at the club with a Texas star and lots of plates. Love going with a big box of moon clips and making the steel ring.
12lb. trigger return spring and a Dawson FO front sight are all I've done and think it needs... well.. N frames are big, but if you have the hands for them they're great shooters.

The 5" model has been my dream gun for a few years now and I ordered it about two weeks ago now. My LGS has it in stock for about two weeks now but it has Black and Blue wood stocks on it, not the normal light Brown color which looks 1000 times better. I will have it in about two weeks of waiting. Altemont has around 25 different sets of grips for them. I'll pick something from their lineup to dress it in.

I love my 627 Pro...it was a long time coming, but I finally got mine right where I want it. Mine came with a boogered barrel crown, so it had to go back to S&W. When it came back, I had my smith rework the trigger and fix a minor timing issue, as well as smoothing the trigger face. I replaced the finger groove grips with some smooth grips (I hate finger groves), also replaced the front sight with a Hi-Viz.

I shot it iron sights all summer ignoring the crooked back factory sight the entire time. Save up the $$ for an Alchin mount and an 8MOA Burris FFIII that I just popped on a few weeks ago.

Here she sits as of last week:

This firearm was made to shoot. The size and balance of the firearm makes .38 a *****cat and .357 no problem at all. This is easily one of my favorite firearms at this point...

Default Too late?

I re-discovered this thread by accident. Thanks to all for your positive appraisals of the 627 Pro. I purchased this model in Feb 2018 and I still haven't recovered from opening the box. It is absolutely the finest revolver I own, and perhaps, the finest handgun ever made IMHO.

I still beat on mine like it owes me money. She was a hungry lady over 2018 and factory 38 spcl is not cheap. Because of that, I decided to reload early 2019 and it was a superb decision. I've been shooting 148g wadcutters and 145g lead RN reloads lately. What's crazy is how much more accurate my reloads are vs factory. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting that.

like you said, is one of the best firearms I've ever shot. It fits me like a glove, is a superb size and holding 8 rounds makes it a real winner.
