Is this normal for you all
I just picked up a new model 60-15 tonight.
When I load the gun and the cylinder is still open the rounds are rubbing the frame when I spin the cylinder. It does not spin freely like my other two j frames. Don't get me wrong, it will still free wheel a few turns. But my other two are like a fidget spinner, they just keep going.
What do you think?

Both my 60-9 and 640-1 click the frame if I spin the cylinder with rounds in place. Both of those are J magnum frames like your 60-15. No rounds no contact.

Maybe needs some adjustment in the cylinder/recoil shield gap?

My case rims don't rub on my 60-15 but the cylinder doesn't spin freely either, at least not like my well used model 15.

That's a feature; not a defect Now you've got two toys -- a fidget spinner when empty and a clicky spinner when loaded.
My J does the same thing.

My 1970s 36 does it too. It works so I don't care if it spins when opened

Hmmm. Interesting.
I want mine to spin one chamber at a time, each and every time I pull the trigger.

Nothing wrong with your gun. Many of my J frames are like that. More than likely the cartridges are rubbing on the cylinder stop.

Hi Sawlog, and congrats on the new gun!
The cylinder in my M60 was stiff when I got it. The cylinder was hard to spin, but a couple of drops of oil on the ejector rod fixed it right up!

I oiled mine too and it did free it up, but when loaded it hit the frame too much.

Maybe you should slam the cylinder closed like in the movies!!!
That will losen things up so it won’t spin so fast! Lol

Most if not all of my Smiths tend to collect debris if too well oiled and then spin lethargically. A good cleaning is in order.
