624 LH 3” price check pls
Forget gbroker. What are you guys seeing these go for in the wild? An lgs has one in good shape with combats, no box, tools, papers. Price tag is closer to $1300 than $1200. Certainly not a steal. Im thinking $1000 top of the mark. What say thee?

If I could find one for $1000 I'd buy it. I think best I've seen "in the wild" in the past couple years is close to $1200 although didn't try to negotiate any of those. Good luck.

I came across a guy carrying one around a show about a year ago with box and everything. He was asking $1250 and wouldn't come below $1200.
Saw another one at a show yesterday, also with box. It was marked $1299. The second time around a guy was counting out the money buying it. Didn't hear the number, but can't imagine he got it below $1150 to $1200.

This is not an offer to sell, but mine in similar shape, with factory leather holster, I'd ask $1300. So one without would be more like $1200.

What I find strange is the 3" pre-lock 624's are currently demanding premium over 3" pre-lock 629's by at least $100. I feel like the 3" 629 backpack models should be doing at least as well as any 624 as they are just as common/ uncommon (I think, but I'm certainly willing to be criticized on that claim), built on the exact same frame, and they are more versatile as they can shoot .44 special AND .44 magnum.
Somehow they aren't as valuable? *sips tea* Weird...

Only a couple or three years ago $800- $900 would be a great price for one. IMO GunBroker has driven up the asking prices we are seeing today. It's become the reference point for LGSs, pawn shops, etc. Great if you're selling. Sucks if you're buying.

Swing price is about $1000.
Below $1,000 lots of buyers, maybe not many sellers.
Above $1,000, it might sell, probably slower.
Mine has great grips, factory holster, papers, ratty box.
If I was selling, which I’m not,
My number is $1,200.

That rig on GB would fetch $1350 to $1550+ ballpark... Ask me how I know...

I wouldn't even look twice at a 624 even if it did have combats. I want a backpacker and nothing else will do

This my conundrum. What makes matters worse is that I already have two 629-1 3"....and three other 3" .44 Magnums. I really like the tapered barrel though....so I bought a 29-10 LH 3". I think I'm just going to have to wait for the right opportunity. Patience hasn't failed me yet.

I've got a Mountain Back Packer that I really love... It's my favorite Big Bore me & the wife own and It's sweeter than the M29-3 LHS in the lock up, trigger department and lastly balance with it's Full-Lug. I love them both though!

Oh no!!! Not 2 629-1's!!! Anything but that!!!
... just kidding...
In all seriousness though, having too many 3" prelock 629's is a good problem to have.
I honestly believe the trend of 624's demanding premium over 629's has to do with an aging collectors community. The older a human gets, the weaker and more sensitive his/her wrists get. These aging gentlemen get rid of their snub nose magnums first because they simply no longer enjoy the recoil, or never did and can no longer tolerate the pounding a .44 magnum can put on a palm. This was the exact case when I bought my first backpacker; 629-4, everything you need, and nothing you don't.
I like to call it, everything the 624 wishes it could be.
