"Used" 69 Combat Magnum 2.5". Going rate?
What kind of prices is everyone seeing for the 69 Combat Magnum 2.75" on the used market? I'm just curious. I have this one in the pipeline. I'm thinking it is unfired other than the factory test rounds. Has the carbon around 3 of the 5 charge holes on the front of the cylinder. It's as clean as any new one I've ever seen. Box all papers etc.
Edit... I guess the barrel is 2.75" NOT 2.5" Sorry bout that.

Reason: Wrong info for barrel length.

I sold mine a few months ago. I bought it new and put 50 rounds through it. Sold it locally for $700,with the plastic box. I believe I paid $785 new through my local gun shop.

I would pay $600-650 for a used one and possibly $700 for the one you posted if it does check out.

What do you mean by "if it does check out"?

If it passes a basic functionality test, timing, lockup, endshake, barrel cant etc. All the stuff you would routinely look at before purchase.

Oh yeah gotcha.... All that checks out. I closely checked for barrel cant because I've seen plenty of threads about that. Locks up tight, timing is good. B/C gap looks good to the eye. I didn't gauge it.

I paid 705.00 plus tax (new) for mine about 6 weeks ago (just before Christmas). I reload and am load developing now for a range load of around 850FPS in magnum cases. Full load magnums are tough on both the shooter and the gun. It is a light gun for caliber. By the way, if you do buy it, I have a set of Pachmyer grips that I did not like as well as the stock grips.

Not TOO mysterious, just some ham fisted S&W assembly going on. First I've heard with the two piece barrels, though.

Current issued model on the used market will bring 75% value maybe.

That is a real good price. Where did you buy it from at that price?

While I don't like buying firearms at a big box store Academy policy is to match advertised price plus another 10% off. I found a Sig 250 22 in an Academy store and asked them to price match. Pulled out my tablet and showed them the CDNN price and they matched it plus another 10% off.
I've also had Cabelas match a buy it now price off Gunbroker on a 629 Classic.
Never hurts to ask and at big retailers I will. At a local gun shop not so much. I like buying from a local businessman and will pay extra.

I bought it from DEGuns Smith & Wesson Model 69 Combat Magnum 44 Magnum 2.75" Barrel 5 Round Stainless Steel Revolver 10064
They're currently showing a price of $730. I linked to them off 022188868012 - Smith & Wesson Model 69 Combat Magnum Single/double 44 Remington Magnum 2.75 5 Black | gun.deals one of the sites that compile the best deals on a searched gun. As of this posting GunDeals still shows it. They honored that price. I tried to post a sanitized copy of my invoice but I don't have pics hosted anywhere.
That's the first time I used DEGuns and I was leery of them. The gun arrived quickly, in perfect condition and NIB as advertised and with no issues. I'll use them again. As a matter of fact I'm awaiting a Ruger MKIV that shows as shipped. Same situation, they honored the price shown on GunDeals. I also ordered a few other items. They seem very anxious to not be undersold.

I've always tried to buy from the "local" guy... I avoid Home Depot in lieu for the Mom n' Pop hardware stores... hell, I go to Ace before HD, anybody but a Home Depot. I've tried to do the same with local GunStores as well, all 7-8 of them; I live in North West Roswell... a quarter mile from the intersecting line/points of North Fulton, East Cobb, and South Cherokee Counties. However, the Mom n' Pop GunStoes almost never, ever, have what I want when it comes to revolvers, CZ's, or 1911's... After many trips looking for something on "the list" and despite being told, yeah, we have (3) of those I'm looking at right now... Only 30 minutes later to show up and be told, "Yeah-uhhhh, who did you talk to? Oh, they are at lunch and must-a-been mistaken..." That never happens at GunBroker and/or "Theoutdoorstrader.com", (a local FTF trader site...) One or both of them always have/had everything I've ever looked for without the aforementioned disappointing drives & bull-shiat around town. But yes, theoretically, I certainly do agree with you to try and do business with the locals; especially since now I'm a small business man myself on the side. I'd do more business with the local gun-shops if it worked out that way, for me. YMMV of course and I certainly hope it's been different than my experience...

The 69 will handle a diet of full magnums, it’s the shooter that is the weak link.
A cyl or two and I am done. My scrawny wrists just can’t take too many. But there are others here that run full mags regularly.
I wouldn’t pay more than $600 for a used one if it was mint.
I have seen them go for under $600 on GB, but one must be patient.

I guess it varies by location. I've been trying to sell a 4.25" that's new in the box for $650 locally and can't any interest other than the guntraders calling me up and wanting to swap for their used $400 Rossi 38's or used Mossberg 500's for $300! They see a gun priced cheap and they try to turn a profit by trading you junk.
