Default Target grips from jaruwan

Has anyone tried the replica target grips that this jaruwan makes , Iím wondering if they are the same size, length and width as the smith factory target grips that they produced in the 80s?

Default Jaruwan

They are pretty close. Here are some on my M10.
They took a little fitting like some aftermarket grips do.

Those look great. Jaruwan's prices are very good with free shipping. I usually receive shipments much quicker than the estimated date.

I see I'm not the only one who takes a Sharpie to the medallions.

I had an older set of his targets that were actually rb to sb conversions. They were very nice, but they were not the same size. That was 7 or 8 years ago though.

Click on search at the top and put in "Jaruwan" and you'll see over 100 posts. At least a new thread gives me the chance to show off my 27-2 again. My grips fit very tight, so tight I could shoot without the grip screw, but i got them on without sanding anything.

Just today I recieved the target grips from jaruwan and I have to say I’m beyond impressed. The size , length and width are very close to the smith targets. They fit very nicely also. I ordered another pair just to have in reserve.

Another thing to remember is that grip makers in Thailand have access to hardwoods that U.S. makers can only dream about. I almost suggest that you do some sanding on your new grips just so you can smell the wood. I better be quiet about this before it becomes illegal to import these woods. Remember the Gibson Guitars hassle.

Default Jaruwan grips

Here are my Jaruwan grips. Got these a few days ago. Only took 9 or 10 days to get here. They fit my 629 Classic good and finish is excellent. These are round butt to square butt conversion. Good deal for $39.99.

I've been very impressed by the jaruwan.p grips. These SB K-frame grips feature a little extra in front for the pinky but do not extend below the frame otherwise.

I don’t know how to put up pictures or I’d post a few of what jaruwan sent me, some really look like maple wood to me. Whatever they are they’re very nice.

The Jaruwan Miculek's are very nice, but (for better or worse) are significantly thicker than the actual Miculeks. I don't have a picture of them on the gun because I ended up putting rubber grips back on it so I could shoot magnums comfortably.

What sort of tracking info did you guys have when you ordered from jaruwan? Mine shows as going via Thailand Post and has been almost three weeks since it was updated as 'Departure from outward OE' from Suvarnabhumi Mail Centre. Did yours lose sight once it left Thailand or did you see other updates along the way? I'm just wondering since I see a number of posts where the grips were received in less than two weeks and here I am at three. I also have the USPS Informed Delivery but am not sure when it would start showing up there. It hasn't yet. With the nor'easters that have been hitting the east cost lately I wonder if my package is stuck in a container somewhere waiting for the weather to clear up.

I've ordered a couple of times. One order arrived within three weeks. A second order hadn't arrived after four weeks so I sent him an email. He responded immediately and asked me to wait another week and if they didn't arrive he would ship out another set. They arrived a couple of days later.
Good customer service and communication. Hope he keeps it up.

Here's a 27-2 and 27-5. The checkering is quite sharp so I wouldn't recommend on a magnum (the 27-5 is a 44mag now), but I think they look great and feel pretty good.

If you go to ebay and search for 'jaruwan s&w j frame' there are some that come up as fitting both round and square butt.

I think Jaruwan has left Ebay. I still haven't received mine or seen any update to the tracking. I contacted him last week about finding out where they were and just got something like "please wait not a long time. they will arrive.' The estimated arrival date was March 14-April 16 so I can't really do anything until next week. I was just now poking around Ebay and none of his stuff shows up. Right now I'm just hoping I can get my money back next week.

Thanks for the hot tip. The bright and shiny medallions have always been a turn off for these after market Thailand made grips, now I have a solution better that asking they not be installed which was my first thought. In the past I never cared for the specific give away look of this manufacturer but in the last few years they have really come around and this thread is just what I needed to jump in and try a pair. I have a beautiful M34-1 4" I am going to fit a pair with. My first choice would be Ahrends but sometimes I feel the project doesn't warrant the $90. Thanks again for the tip.

I messaged with him through ebay in the psat few days, he's waiting on a delivery of new wood.

Be advised, his target grips clearly appear to be cut for speed loaders, but they are not. The cut is wrong, and you can NOT use speed loaders with them. (at least on my set)

I advised him of the issue, and was pretty much told tuff sh1t in very broken English. The grips I received are very nice, fit and finish is otherwise good, but they are useless to me unless I start cutting and sanding.

Based on this thread.... I ordered a set for my 4" 63.......Combat look , covered back-strap ...ordered 3/27 arrived today.

IMHO I'm a bit of a "grip snob"......... ... these are nice.....
0 fit and finish GTG........

0 grips cover up to the top of the frame with a recess on the back for the hammer (at full cock) if shooting single action

0 finger grooves actually fit my medium size hand/fingers; and point well

0 I'm happy!

LOL well worth the $31.......

Finally an update on my Jaruwan grips. Now showing as accepted into customs in NY yesterday. Looks like I will have an extra pair as I had gone ahead and ordered this pair of checkered rosewoods from ebay seller firearmgrips last Sunday and they got here on Thursday.

Thailand grips on my 325 Thunder Ranch. Just got these last week. I had to do a little sanding to improve the fit. It is now almost perfect. Overall nice grips and feel comfortable in my hand.

My first set looked nice, so I bought another for a different gun. They looked good too, but warped 2 days later. Sent pics and they replaced them. The replacements were warped on arrival. Third strike same as the second. Got my money back.

I now stick 100% with USA made. The wood may not be supercalifragilostic, and they may cost more, but Awesome Excellent is still good enough for me.

Default Target grips from jaruwan

I ordered a set of combats for my 15-3. They came today. Delivery time was 19 days.

The fit seems nice. The gun points well.

Range time as soon as I can.

I’ve had two sets of Thai grips for so long I’ve forgotten which two vendors I got them from. When they first arrived they were tight on the frames, but apparently the change of climate from Thailand to Virginia led to a little dimensional change... but I believe just a little bit of work will have them back to a near-perfect fit, but it is something the prospective buyer should consider. BTW, I ordered some dark (almost black) wood that looks like ebony. Looks good on my stainless guns!

Those look great. Definitely beats paying the asking prices for OEM targets and then the whole deal with wear and tear on a gun that's actually a shooter.

... The bright and shiny medallions have always been a turn off for these after market Thailand made grips, now I have a solution better that asking they not be installed...
What are these medallions made of? Plastic? Brass? Other?
Are the meds "true knock-offs" of the S&W med, or something close that passes under the copyright radar?

Much of the SE Asian "hardwood" I have seen is relatively soft. Is this the case? Any one experience warping or cracking over extended use?

Not criticisms. The grips looks nice, especially for use on a working gun considering the current value of vintage factory grips. Feedback would be appreciated.
