Model 64 NY-1 2" Questions (Real or Fake?)
Hi all,
I'm in need of some NY-1 knowledgeable folks! I read in the catalog about the finish being changed from a brushed/polished to a frosted finish. Does anyone have any examples of both? I've only been able to find the frosted finish.
Also, is there a serial number range or date range for when they stopped making them with the brushed finish?
Thanks in advance!

This one is BEK 06xx, maybe mid '80's 64-4. I thought the finish was "bead blast." Joe

Finally got around to takings some pictures. Can anyone help verify if this is a legit NY-1 2"? I'm no Jenks, Supica or Nahas, but from what I can tell, this appears to be legit. I base this off of the following:
- The serial number dates back between the fall of 1988 & before Feb. 1989.
- The serial number is etched on the frame under the cylinder.
- The gun is a 64-4 with a factory bobbed hammer.
- The NY-1 etching appears to be similar to other NY-1's I have seen.
- The finish appears to be satin and not frosted. Based on the birthday this appears to align with the early run of these guns.
What do you guys think? Can anyone ID any of the proof marks on this one?
Thanks!

Starts with a BBU. The catalog dates this between Oct. of 1988 to Feb. of 1989.

It looks legitimate to me. The various stampings on the grip frame sides may be assembly, fitter's or inspector's marks, won't tell you one way or another. At this point the incentives to fake NY-1 stamped revolvers are low also.

Here's a bead blasted, satin finished BDTxxxx that according to S&W shipped in April of 1990. The serial number is etched on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and stamped on the bottom of the grip.
