I do not know much about these. Anything I need to look out for?

The price is under $450 with some blueing loss, but according to the seller no pitting or malfunctions. Gun is said to lock up tight and is a good shooter.

If the gun times well, is ok for end and yoke shake, and the forcing cone looks good, it’s a decent price on a nice revolver. If you need advice on checking these things, there is a thread about inspecting used revolvers. I am not clever enough to link you to it, but it’s here somewhere, probably a sticky. Good looking 19, from what I can see.

Frankly, 450 is a good price for any 19. I wouldn't hesitate, it might be gone!

Ditto, that's what I paid for a nearly identical 19 (no dash) over a year ago.

From your description and the photos, I would say that the price is very reasonable for this 19-5. The 19-5 was the first to be produced without the counterbored cylinder chamber holes and the pinned barrel which accounts for the price difference between it and previous models. They are known for eing excellent shooters, the perfect size, and easy to carry. Anyone who likes Smiths should own at least one.

$450 for that gun is a steal. They would ask $650 for it here, and they would get it.

I paid $500 for my Model 19-5 in "As New In Box" condition. It came with box, papers, and original stocks. But that was almost eleven years ago, and even allowing for the slight premium I undoubtedly paid for the 2 1/2" barrel version, I think you're looking at a really good deal!

I would be on that like a rat on a cheetos.

I paid the same for a -4 about a year ago in the same condition and I was plain lucky. The guy was moving his family out of state and needed some cash for the road. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. That gun is a tack driver, you will love it.

version because I do not like
recessed chambers. They are just
gunk traps.

Easily $600+++, around here, when you're lucky enough to even see one.

The -5 also comes with a wider (.312?) smooth trigger. The pinned barrels and recessed charge holes are of little value other than bragging rights. My 6” -5 is probably the most accurate handgun I own. The 66-2, which is the stainless version is right there with it, despite the 2-1/2” barrel.

That same model 19 is down the road from me at a shop for 649 . I looked and looked and looked but took a Kimber K6 357 with a dark navy grips home . .
