Default Help on a 29-3

Im helping out a buddy at the Gun Show today and one of the usual dealers has a 29-3 with 10 1/2 barrel with an adjustable front site. Finish is 85%. Black Houge Grips. He has had it for awhile, he has it priced for $600.00. What do you all think?

$600 is fair, but your buddy better have a use for it, because the only thing that can be used for is range work.

Personally I like unusual guns but they call out to a niche audience.

Objectively:
Per the SCSW 4th edition; the 29-3 would have been made circa 1982 - 1988. Originally it would have come with wood Goncalo Alves target grips. The SCSW (copyright 2016) lists the following values for The Model 29 Silhouette:
ANIB (as new in box) - $1200
Excellent - $850
Very Good - $750

A quick look at Gun Broker shows successfully completed, i.e. the gun actually sold, auctions for the Model 29 Silhouette anywhere from $730 to about $1600.

And Joe Internet, i.e. me, think the price is fair.

So there, you have three sources of information for price and by any measure the price could probably be argued to be fair or reasonable.

For one in that condition, no original grips or box I'd say that $600 is very fair. It's hard to find any N frame for less than $800 these days. I paid a few more bucks for this dash 5 model but it was in primo shape.

I'd consider it for $600

I agree with the above statement! By "range work" we assume he meant long range work! That 10 5/8" barrel tames the hottest loads and the *** 4 on the front sight should be set at 200 yards. This is 2 29 Silhouettes, 2 guys, and 2 days!
