Model 66-8 ?
Found a 66-8 4.25" barrel for $550, i know the guy and he said he hasn't shot it, said in "new" condition and that he has too many guns and needs to thin out, if it checks out does it sound like good price? i have alot of GP100's but no bigger Smith's than a couple of J frames.

$550 unfired? I'd buy it. Just checked Bud's and your looking at $715 from them.
I've got a 69 with 2.75" barrel and love it. Wouldn't mind a 66 with the same barrel length some day.

The 66 is a K-frame so it's only a little bigger. For that price, if it doesn't burn your hand when you hold it, buy it. That's a steal.

IMHO a nice no dash or a dash 1, even of not new, is likely to hold it's value better than a mim & lock version. And you can buy them for less than MSRP new ones
