Default Is This Desirable I Like It

Found online, I bid, didn't get outbid as I expected. Not going to sell it so I was ok with it not having a box or papers and ****. It is BEN97xx 686-3 with 2.5" barrel, some pretty nice grained Combats.
Of course .357mag. sorry for the ****** pics.

If you don't mind, what was the selling price?
I'm seriously considering a 3" just like it.

You're gonna like that one!! I had to go look to find mine is a -4. It shoots as good as a 4 inch, but mostly it resides by the bed.

The last revolvers to ship wearing S&W made Combats were 2 1/2" 686-3s. I bought mine in a local gun store for substantially less than the new 7 shot 3" 686-?s that were in stores at the time. If I was the sort of scum ball who would separate a revolver from its stocks mine could have cost me less than a ratty Model 10. I figured that in the heat of a blazing gun battle I'd probably reload out of habit after 6 dumping the 7th on my toes so the older gun was more cost effective. Besides the appearance of Combats and chromed forged hammers and triggers is desirable.

Need pictures of the fireball when you touch that beauty off in low light. Should be impressive.

The -3 is the best M686 snubby in my view. I'll gladly take a flash chromed hammer and trigger over the drilled and tapped top strap of a -4. I'd never put optics on a snubby anyway.

The BEN prefix was used on new revolvers that were shipping in.....
November - 1989 to February 1990.
December was by far the most common. Product code was 104231.
