My Grail Gun !
I had little hope of this happening any time in the near future due to expenses and the rising cost of limited edition guns but the moon and stars must have been alined just right. After several back and forth emails for about two weeks I was able to negotiate the acquisition of my only real Grail Gun. A model 25-9 ! .45LC
and what a beauty she is too. Slight turn line, no flaws, the lock up is tight and the case hardened trigger and hammer are perfect. She is currently wearing Hogue rubber grips but I’m on the hunt to correct that soon. This is going to be one fun gun to shoot ! . Ok , without further ado, here are a couple photos to feast your eyes on.

OK, you got me convinced! Mighty nice Iron you got there. Good for you. Find the grips you want for it but if it was me I would probably shoot it with the Hogues. Congrats on the completion of you quest!

Very nice! I've been looking on and off for a 45LC, but seem to get distracted by something else along the way.

I love a happy ending!! There's nothing like the feeling of snagging a gun you've lusted over. I'm happy for ya buddy! If I had to guess, I'd say that one's going to put a little kid's grin on your face at the range! I'm looking forward to seeing what grips land on it and a range report.
Congrats!!

I’ve been eyeballing a nice set of sandbar stag grips. That’s the contrast that I’m looking for but I’m not sure how comfortable they and a T-grip would be. I don’t mind tha combination on a K frame .38. I’m seriously looking at a set of Ahrends smooth tactical grips in their fiddle back maple. Tung oil finish.

It's not the worst thing I've ever done.
If you want drop dead good looks and coke grip fit goodness, contact Culina on this forum. I prefer their feather walnut.
Here's their work on a 27-2 and a 19-3.
Close-up.

Very businesslike looking gun! My 25-9 has a fluted cylinder. Does "Model of 1989" make it different? Is that some kind of commemorative?

Wow! Your new 25-9 really is a looker. I couldn't "like" your post fast enough. Congratulations on scoring your Grail Gun. But I have to warn you: It's all downhill from here

Congratulations on a fine acquisition. May it safely serve you well.
For me the problem is that acquisition of a Grail gun means that soon there will be another grail gun. So many S&W revolvers, so little time and money.

All I can say, is congratulations, and "WOW"! When it comes to a Holy Grail Gun, 25-7, or 25-9, would be a #1 choice for me! I had to settle for a 25-15. Newer than I prefer, but really enjoy shooting it. Bob

When I found my unfluted LC another followed close behind. I was looking for a 25-7 and found a 25-9. Soon after I found a 25-7.

Without a doubt it is one of the best classically looking firearms out there. Big, beefy, and all business with its six 45 LC tubes. Dressed up or not it is a beauty. Get one .... if you can.

I had one of those when they first came. I can usually remember every gun trade or sale, but to this day I'll be damned if I can remember what I did with that one.

This model, along with the previous model 25-7, were a limited run of .45LC with a 5” barrel, matt blued finish and unfluted cylinder.

Wow, I had a tough enough time finding the -9. Let alone a -7, Congrats. Is there any discernible difference between the -7 and the -9 ?

“ A little kids grin on my face” , don’t you know it ! I haven’t stopped smiling since I picked it up!
I’m hoping to get out to the range with it On Sunday if the dang weather cooperates. I haven’t seen temps this chilly into April since I was a kid and that was quite awhile ago.

The - 9 Product Code 100924, with 5-inch barrel and unfluted cylinder, was introduced in 1990. It superceded the nearly identical -5 engineering revision which was introduced in 1989 and marked Model of 1989.

I’ve noticed over the years that several folks have refered to this particular revolver as their grail gun. I think that speaks volumes about a five inch, ejector shroud, big bore, N frame. Would he nice to see it make a come back in this caliber and others.

Grail guns:
You look and look and hunt and hunt
and dicker and dicker and finally you
find the grail gun, it's neat, clean
and perfect.
A few weeks later, you casually stop
in your local toy store and two more
have showed up, equally nice but
many dollars cheaper.

Good for you! Gotta love the big-bore revolvers.
Don't you just love when the long search is over with, that is until THE NEXT SEARCH begins! LoL...
Many years ago, I hunted and hunted for a particular model HK-P7 series pistol (the squeeze cockers). After a while, I had pretty much given up hope until one day, a darn near 100% NIB condition one walked by me at a gun show in its original box, 2 mags, with all the paperwork and factory supplied accoutrements. Best part, I didn't get raped on the price either!
;-)
NEXT!
LoL...

Congrats on getting your Grail Gun, OP! It's a great feeling! I got mine (646PC) last year and I'm still very stoked about owning it.
Cheers!

Looking forward to getting out to the range and putting this baby through it’s paces! The weather looks like it’s finally going to cooperate enough to enjoy the outing even if temps will only be in the upper 40’s. At least the sun will be out for a nice change.

Congrats on your find! I have a 25-7 Model of 1989 that was shipped in April 1989.
You will be rewarded with the accuracy of your new find!!
