Default 66-8 hammer spring loosened?

Anyone have the adjustment screw on their hammer spring loosen itself? My 66-8 was in the safe a few months, though I occasionally dry fired it. Today it failed to ignite any primers. Clicl click click click click click. The firing pin barely peeked out from behind the frame.

Back home, I tightened the screw a bit, checked that the firing pin came farther out, and put a drop of blue loctite on the screw.

I thought it was odd, and hope it never happens again!

That happens all the time. The blue loctite is the fix. Once they get loose, they vibrate out more and more as you shoot, until finally won't set off the primers.

I've heard of putting a primer cup over the end of the strain screw against the mainspring to add length thus increasing strain but have not done so.

Also see if the yoke screw and the sideplate screw got switched somehow. Swap them and see if you have more/less endshake.

YMMV. Good luck!
