Default "New" Model 60-3

My passion for 3" revolvers was satisfied recently. Spotted a Model 60 (.38 Spcl) with a 3" barrel and bobbed hammer in a local gun store. The guy behind the counter thought the hammer was a modification by a prior owner. In reviewing the SCSW, there was no mention of the serial number sequence (BDWxxxx) but there was a reference to product code 10230 (3" barrel, bobbed hammer, Hogue grips). Has anyone come across something like this before? I assume it is not rated for +P ammo.

Based on the serial number (which is nothing particularly special) this gun shipped in....

April - May 1989.

If it really is a 3-inch DAO gun then the proper product code would be 102318 (pc's always have six digits). It's also very likely this could of be a NYPD overrun gun. The s/n and time frame are right. Pictures would be a big help. Not much more to say without them.
