Default What Kind of Wood Is This?

I just got this set of K frame smooth target grips, and was wondering what kind of wood this is. I believe the early ones used rosewood, but these are later and seem to be much lighter. One is dated Jun 26 1986, so they aren't really that old. By looking at the bottoms, I think these are what some collectors refer to as "Book Ends"

Goncola alves. While they appear to have been refinished they have great book end grain.

Edit to add: I did not know gorillas typed faster than humans.

The finish can be hand rubbed smooth. They look good.

I use the White scotts brite pads to achieve a hand rubbed finish. Works great on stainless too.

I would strip that finish and apply a thin coat of tru oil or something similar. Very nice grain and color.
