Source for rear sight assembly for 686-3?
Tried the factory, Jack First, and Numerich Arms, now known as Gun Parts. No luck. And ideas for another source to try? Thanks.

Do you need the whole assembly or is the adjustment just broken? The fix isn't super-hard, parts are just a couple bucks.

Not trying to complicate things but. . . Better check the one at Midway as I think it has a rounded front (towards the front sight). The one on my 686-3 is squared; I think the one at Midway is for later dash numbers if it fits a 686 at all. No expert on sights though but I have bought a few "wrong" ones. Good luck.

Check out Numrich gun parts.
I believe they have them.

22hipower is correct. My 586-3 takes the square front, and I believe a .146" blade is standard. Just checked eBay. none of those are the correct model. Thanks for the replies.

If you don't mind 3rd party sight assemblies, Bowen has their Rough Country rear sight assemblies that fit your gun. They are not cheap though, around $115-130 or so from what I see.

The pic of the S&W Bowen sight shows a rounded front. Mine takes the square front. And, although Bowen makes excellent quality produces, I cannot justify that much money for this particular gun. I am removing a red dot sight so someone else can have the gun. That is, if I can find a complete rear sight assembly at a reasonable price.

I just looked and stopped counting at (20) K/L/N-frame rear sight assemblies. All square tang. Was less than half way thru my search list.

Yeah, they are pricey. I just threw that out in case you cannot find a replacement elsewhere. BTW, if you scroll down that page, they show a listing for the old style replacement sights, which are listed at $129.95. The tang is undrilled so that you can drill it to match the placement on your particular gun.

I have a bunch of rear sight assemblies. If you could give me an accurate measurement from the vertical ledge above the hammer to the center of the screw hole in the tang, I will check and see if I have one that size. Mine would be $75 + shipping.
