686 SSR Pro Series 357 Magnum
Is this revolver considered to be an L Frame? It comes with two grips but I need a grip that is a little longer or bigger and I was wondering what my options would be?

The 686 is an L frame. You didn't mention if you wanted big in rubber or wood but just in case, I put an X frame grip on an L frame(986). It covers the backstrap without being too big and fits without any modifications . You can order an X frame grip from the Smith and Wesson store.

The 686 SSR is the nicest revolver I own. The grip frame is the round butt K/L design, for which there are many, many grips on the market. Presently on my SSR are the Uncle Mike's rubber RB-SB design, which basically converts the round butt frame to the square butt configuration. Good shooting!

Love the ssr but factory grips don't fit me at all. Culina combats are the only combats that feel right.Had good luck with culina and altamont target grips.I would like some bigger rubber grip's for magnum's.Dawson pre. and sdm let me take advantage of quick change front sight.Hope you enjoy your gun

You just have to love the SSR. Such a sweet shooter. I had a action job performed on mine. It now has a 9 lb. 13 oz. trigger pull and is as slick as "snot on a brass door knob!!! I installed a set of AHRENDS grips to make the revolver PERFECT !!!!!
