Okay, my 686 plus pro is a round butt and both the back and top straps are smooth. Is that normal on the pro series 686 plus?

Those are smooth and you don't see the ribs on top. I noticed this from the Pro series ....

The RB might be lighter. I'm assuming if they took material out of the barrel to make it lighter, it may be a reason. (Slab sided models) I think all L frames now made are RB.

My 686 Pro Series is a 5". Produced Feb. 2016. It is a round butt. It now wears Hogue Stocks. Bob

I don't know why they have RB's. All I know for sure is I LOVE mine!!!! It's my favorite.
