Default New to me, 2 police trade-ins Model 10-10

Hello,
Just pictures and a question about these police trade in Model 10s.. I removed the grips on the second one to clean dried oil off. Both function and lock up great, finish wear is the only issue that is visible. Bores are bright, shiny and the trigger pulls feel excellent. I love Model 10s..
Anyway, the description from AIM read:
"These Law Enforcement trade-ins will most likely have an identifiction (sic) badge/medallion affixed to the side as pictured. These can easily be removed with the careful use of a thin blade and/or heat gun."

One came off with just a push, the other just fell off, only being slightly adhered to the revolver.

First question.. Being new to Smith collecting, I was wondering if it's safe to assume that these are From The District of Columbia? I know there must be other agencies that would use DC, or it could be internal inventory or ID nomenclature, abbreviations, etc.. I was just wondering if anyone had some insight or previous experience with similarly marked firearms if they indeed are from Washington DC PD or if they know of another agency which could be their source.
The badges have "DC" over a number as the pictures show.

I know policies change along with department heads, but I found this article from 1999 about DC Police guns being traded in, and then recovered from crime scenes later.
From the article:
Told of The Post's findings, D.C. Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey said this week that he was unaware of any old department guns ending up in criminal hands. But he said he strongly opposes such trades and pledged to end them.

"We're not going to put these guns back into circulation," he said. "If we decide to move to a different type of weapon in the future, we would simply destroy those currently in our possession."

I like knowing as much as I can learn of the history and the use of the firearms I collect, so this just seemed interesting to me.

The second question might be harder to get an answer for..
Does the District PD still issue revolvers for duty use? Or are they for training, maybe initial training? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any info!

There were some M10s recently on the market which allegedly came from the NY Department of Corrections. A DC marking might apply there as well. Though last time I was in DC, a couple years ago, I noticed Metro Police wearing revolvers.

That's correct, the DC tagged ones are New York State Department of Corrections revolvers. Pleasantly surprised to see them on the market, I figured they would have destroyed them!

Might have to get one! I always liked the 10-10 solely for the grips they had on them, the earlier ones all had magnas on them.

Just an fyi too, it looks like the duty ammo is also getting out there. Same ammo was used for quals and duty. Remington 110 sjhp standard pressure.

I bought one through Aim and it too had the DC tag. Glad you asked the questions since I had assumed it was for DC the swamp. Love this 10-6. Lots of holster wear but no cylinder groove and an awesome trigger.

The description AIM had on them stated that most had the square frame wood stocks..Both of mine came with the Uncle Mikes. I prefer the uncle mikes, so I was happy with that. Most of the 10-10s I've seen have them. I use it on all my K frames that I plan to shoot for any reasonable amount..the magnas are just uncomfortable to me. So it's either target stocks or the uncle mikes. I even modify and cut the edging on the inside to make them fit the square frames. I'be only been able to find this specific model grip style from Uncle Mikes in round butt..I haven't seen or found a square butt version. The ones I have found are shaped differently..altogether different style. But the round versions can simply be trimmed inside and fit on square frames. My model 19 has a set on it now.

Picked up the 10-8 from this deal today (standard grade). Very pleased. A little quick cleanup for now and more later but I can't wait to take her to the range.

Anyone tried FOIA requests for paperwork on these? I might send mine out next week just to see what I get back.
