Model 15-4 Nickel
My elderly neighbor is liquidating his firearm collection. He has a model 15-4 (2 inch barrel with nickel finish). No box, but does have the original stocks. It appears to be around 98% as it does have a tiny scratch at the end of the barrel that actually might polish out. The nickel finish is just beautiful. He wants $625 for it but would probably take less. He said that he probably fired it a few times, but doesn't actually remember doing so. In my 30+ years of going to gun shows and visiting gun shops, I've never seen this particular model in nickel with a 2 inch barrel. I am in California, so prices for Smiths tend to be a bit higher here. I'm thinking that this should be a no-brainer at this price. Agree? Sorry, but I didn't take photos of it when I looked at it last weekend.
Thanks up front!

If it's in that condition, plus nickel and 2" Barrell plus you are in California? I'd say that would be a good deal. That's a great revolver, I'd say go for it. Of course like many folks on here, we are enablers so this may not be the best place to go looking for purchasing advice!

In my opinion, a 2" Model 15 is a Cadillac in the snubby world. Wish I had one (I have a beautiful 4" Model 15).

I'm looking for a Model 15-4 or earlier, 2-inch, in nickel, myself and I would be tickled pink to find one in collectable condition for that price. A very nice two-inch 15-3 in nickel sold last night on GB for $749.00 plus shipping for just the gun, with no box or documents. See: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/771046933.

Personally I am not a snubby fan, BUT, if this is everything you say it is, and nickel, I would grab it so fast it got windburn

The Model 15 Nickel 2" just happens to be one of my favorite S&W's. $625 is a good deal in nice condition. Go for it!
I had been looking for one for awhile and suddenly three showed up (not all at once) and I just couldn't refuse the temptation to acquire all three. Sometimes wonder if they show up because I'm looking or just by coincidence.
Pictured together are the Trio. First two are 15-3's and rear is 15-4.

I'm going to go and take better look at it in a few days. When I first looked at it, it was outside in the sunlight. I'd like a closer look under better lighting conditions. But it is a 15-4 2 inch barrel nickel, so I'll likely take it regardless.

I would do it in a heartbeat at that price! I'm in the market for a 2" model 15 myself!

I need one in nickel to go with my blue one. Been looking a while and was actually watching the one mentioned above that went for $749. I concur with all of the previous posts. A functionally sound 2” nickel Model 15 in the condition you describe is a very good deal at that price, and any less would be a steal. Pictures when you get it, please. Good shootin’,

I was watching that one on Gunbroker as well. I came EXTREMELY close to pulling the trigger on the "Buy it now" option at $749.

I bought a blued 2” on one of the auction sights 3 years ago the week before Christmas. No box or tools but gun did appear to be unfired as was stated in the ad. Got it for $400.
Found it hard to believe no one else bid, but hey, good for me!
I added the target hammer and pre-war magnas. As close to a 2 1/2” Python as I’ll ever get.

You won't find a nicer .38 snub nose.
The second opportunity may not come around a second time especially from a private face to face seller. I follow these regularly and can state from fact they are highly sought after and the price you mention is not out of line especially for a nickel finish. Folks make the mistake of comparing the availability of the 2" to the 4" and there are just not that many to be had. I live in a small community in Oregon and would take a 2.5 hour drive to Portland to pick that revolver up in a heartbeat.
