Thumbs up Gun dog T V on the satellite.

I was watching this show last night and it said a dog you would never expect to see working in the field. They were shooting doves in this field and this dog retrieved every bird they got, what kind of a dog was it you ask? A large white standard poodle with the dog groomer hair cut like you would see in a dog show. The dog never missed a bird that was shot. Jeff

Just a dog serving its original purpose. That's the original reason for the puff ball haircuts, to protect the joints in cold water.

Standard poodles were bred as gun dogs
Toy poodles as bait

I have heard this too. Another plus is your hunting partners will be laughing so hard that they will not be able to shoot......so you get all the birds!

When a rott list to which I belonged for years was still active, in addition to the herding (droving) for which they were originally used, I heard of some folks using rotts for bird dogs! (And yup, this needs to be moved to The Lounge by someone with the power to do so.)
