696 Help please
Recently purchased a 696 no dash.
I am looking for a set of factory rubber grips for it. It came to me with a set of Hogue round to square butt finger grooves. While they are comfortable, they are not the originals.
I would really like to have a set OEM grips.
Any help would be appreciated.

Post some pictures of the gun and the grips. Why are you so sure the grips are not original?
It would also be helpful if you posted the serial number, and if you have the box, a picture of the end label.

The originals are probably uncle mikes round butt k/l frame. I would search ebay, they are truly nothing special

Ladder 13 are you saying there is a set for sale on site or advising me to post in the WTB section?
Kernel, as soon as I have some time I will get pics of the gun and the label on the box. I am working on an assumption as I have never seen a 696 with round to square finger groove Goodyear’s on it when shown as original.
If they are original to the gun via a special order I would not know, but have noticed you have a very good knowledge of codes and such on labels.
Probably be a day or two before I can get pics.
Thanks to all who answered!

I replaced mine with Hogues. Wood breathes better.
Seems like every set of factory rubber grips cause corrosion, at least in my experience.

In the meantime I looked in my own personal database. I have details on maybe 20+ M696-n's. Every single entry where I noted the grip said it had the Uncle Mike grips like the ones shown in this thread. None were Hogue.
I thought maybe few were Hogue, since S&W did use both in that era interchangeably, but I could find no evidence of that. On the M696-n S&W used UM exclusively. BTW, that UM grip happens to be my personal favorite grip type of all time. I buy them when ever I can at a good price.
I still want those pictures.

Some poor pics
Kernel,
Here are two pics I took immediately after I picked the gun up from my FFL.
You can see the grips plainly, and not too sure if there is enough of the label for you to glean any useful information.
If you are still adding to your 696 data base and want any information not shown on the label, let me know and I will PM it to you.
I appreciate yours and everyone else’s input.

These are what came on my 696 ND. They are very comfortable, but I have some Ahrend boot grips that look better.

Ok, so not to take the thread off course, but I thought that all 696s were 4 inch barrels?
I also thought they were given a matte finish?

The vast majority of M696's were 3-inchers. 99%. I'm sure there are exceptions.
