Default New S&W Model 66 for the Collection

Stop by the LGS this morning and took away a new Model 66-8, 4.25” Barrel, for $556.00. Think I did well.

Was it pre-owned?

You did well on the price. Nice 66. This new version is built like a tank. In fact, mine is going to Reno with me next week for when I am out exploring the desert. I swapped out the black thumbpiece, screws, and grip for a Hogue Bantam. Installed a lighter mainspring but that had to go because of light strikes. Enjoy it.

Thanks, I do need to correct this post by correcting the model number to a model 66-8. Didn’t take my Geriatric Vitamins this morning.

You did very well! If your revolver was recently shipped and you don't mind, would you take a picture of the ball detent? A few of us have been curious if the current 4.25" barrel 66-8's have switched to the newer detent system. It looks like they have, but kind of hard to tell. Here is my 66-8 with the old style ball detent.

Ball detent on my 66-8. Love this thing. Best S&W wheel gun I've owned.

NCBeagle--IMHO it looks a lot better with your appearance mods. Enjoy!

That price is lower than wholesale at my usual distributors.
