Default question on the 627-0 model of 1989

Did this revolver have a recessed cylinder? I am looking at one that does(?). Thanks.

I am reading pages 304-305 in the 4th Edition on the 627. No mention of recessed cylinders

I did not have recessed cylinders. Only rimfires did after 1982, and the -0 was from around 1989. The -0 did, I believe, have the longer stop notches.

Thumbs down

I have one of these with no recessed cylinder. The one your looking at must be after-market creation. No added value!

Just got mine out and double checked. No recessed cylinder on mine either.

If it has recessed chambers, it must be cut for moon clips and is cut around the edges for the clip. Not truly recessed like in the pre 1980 .357 magnums.
If cut for moon clips, it should function fine without them, with the cartridge rims headspacing on the outer edge of the rim. Since I don't have need of faster reloads than by using a speedloader, I don't have much use for them. But, I wouldn't pass it by because of it.

Pictures would be helpful in answering your question.

By the way, the 627-0 is the last commonly found N frame with the checkered top strap and is a fine shooting gun. I have never seen a 627-1, so can't say for sure if it has a checkered top strap or not, but apparently there were not many made.
