Default 657-4

A gun shop on the Eastern side of the state is advertising a 657-4, under consignment, for $795.00. The revolver is, based on photos, in 95% condition, has a 6" barrel and Hogue grips with the S&W logo.

Sales tax and shipping would bring the cost up to about $890.00.

The last one that I saw for sale in my area was priced at $1,000.00 and had an unfluted cylinder.

I would like to know if the price is, considering the availability, reasonable.

Thanks in advance for your response.

I am not up on values of those, but on G.B. they (.41's) are starting at $700 + shipping. You did not mention if box etc. were included. Bob

Default Clean ones are definately getting up there.

That price might be a little high. But it is not out of line for a clean one. You say 95%, well 95% means different things to different people.

If I wanted the gun. It would have to be very clean for that price and have the original grips. I do not know if those Hogues were factory or not. They might have been but I do not recall ever seeing one with them.

The Hogue grips are original for this model. There is no box but, 75 rounds of ammo is available for the shipping cost.

I saw a very nice 657 (not sure which - number) at a gun show over the weekend, looked to be 95-98% from casual observation, no sign of a box, asking price was $850. I didn't buy it but think that's not an out-of-line price for one of these.
