Hogue grips for Mdl 69 Smith
I put a set of Hogue X frame grips from my 329PD onto my Smith mdl 69. However the factory Hogue grips that were on the mdl 69 will not fit the N frame sized 329PD. Is this what I should expect, or am I just not holding my mouth right whilst trying to install them?

The X frame grips will fit on the smaller framed Ns and Ls. There is no crossover between the L and N outside of that though.

I put Diamond Pros on my 69 {2 3/4 "} , They fit the size of the L frame better than the X frame Hogue did.

I shall re-state the problem. I can't get the grips that were on my Mdl 69 to fit onto my 329PD. The X frame grips that were on my 329PD fit the Mdl 69 just fine.
Anybody know of a good source for just the stirrup and screw that holds Hogue grips to the underside of a Smith round butt?

I guess what I wrote did't quite say what I wanted to impart.
I put a set of X frame grips on my M69. I found them nice , and they fit the frame fine. Then I switched and put a set of Diamond Pro's on. They seemed to fit the size of the gun better than the X frame grips did. The X frame grips seemed large on an otherwise smaller frame. When ordering the Diamond Pro's they make two different grips , one that fits N frames and one that fit K & L frame guns. So my actual message should read that the grips that came on the 69 are specific to K & L frames and will not fit a N frame {as you found out} Sorry for the poor and easily misunderstood post. I have since replaced the grips on my 3 " 629 with Diamond Pro's and like them better than the X frame grips on even the N frame. They didn't cost that much for the experiment, especially compared to holsters.

I will re-state the problem, as you apparently didn't understand my earlier post. The model 69 is an L frame, the 329 is an N frame, L frame grips don't fit N frames and N frame grips don't fit L frames. You will need to buy a new set of N frame grips for your 329, or another pair of X frame grips.

Thanks for all the clarifications! I'm still looking for a screw and stirrup to fit on the old N frame Hogues that came with my 329PD. Is Hogue a source for these?

You can order the replacement parts from Hogue but you have to call, they aren't available on the website.

A couple years ago I called Hogue looking to replace a stirrup I'd lost. The rep took my name and address and said they'd get it out right away. I asked if they wanted my credit card number and was told "don't worry about it". A week later I had a new stirrup.

Thanks for the heads up on calling Hogue. I'll do that today!
