Default New 642 misfires

Hi, I bought a new S&W 642 about 2 years ago. I fired with about 50 rounds and it worked fine, then I put it on the shelf. When I recently went to the range it misfired about 6 out of 50 rounds so I sent it back to S&W for evaluation. The papers said they performed a trigger repair, a rebound repair and replaced the firing pin. Can anyone tell me what this "repair" involved and why the work was needed? I tried to talk to S&W service, but they seemed very busy and offered little explanation. I want to feel there was a definite problem and a definite fix so I can have confidence in this revolver. If anyone has had a similar experience, or some insights to offer, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.
