Does S & W make a rubber boot grip for the 686+?
Same exact type as for the J-frames, only made for the K/L frames.
Thanks.

My recent purchase, Model 586 L-comp, a RB K/L grip frame design, shipped with a close dupe of the Hogue boot grip design. Although it shipped with the plastic wedge for grip installation, I am at a loss how anyone would be able to install the rubber grip. It is that rigid with no bend/give whatsoever.

My 646 had a boot grip from the factory, and it fits any K/L frame RB. As to current manufacture status, I have no information.

I am not aware of any manufactured by Smith & Wesson, but I believe that Uncle Mike's made a K/L Frame boot. UM supplied the J Frame boot to the factory for awhile. Also, Byron's / Vintage Industries are a good choice.
It's funny. I spent years removing the stock rubber boots. Now, I appreciate them as highly functional. Buying the old school Uncle Mike's at every opportunity.
Here are Byron’s on a 19 2.5”

The rubber bantam grips shipped with the L-Comp are not a close copy of a Hogue, it is a Hogue. Those or Pachmyers will be your best bet. The Hogues are actually pretty easy to install I have found, just don't lose the plastic wedge or you'll have to improvise.

Here is a set of Hogue Bantams on a 3" Model 65. The L frame uses the same grip.

You can also use several plastic cards on both side. I purchased a used 686 with Hogue Bantams installed, no wedge included, found the answer on you tube .

Here’s a set of Hogue Bantams on a 66-8 that went to Reno with me:
I really like these for a .357 K Frame

While not really a "rubber" grip you might take a look at the Precision Gun Specialties "Hideout" grips.
They are pretty compact and can be had for a K frame, so assume they will work on the L as well.
I always wondered if you could stipple them just a tad to rough up the grip a little. But then again they do make a textured version.
