RMR for a 44 mag?
I'm at that point in life where shooting to distance is difficult. I can either see the front sight or the target. Middle aged eye issues.
I own several PC 44 mags of various vintages including some with integral picatinny rails.
It might be time to accept reality (my eyes are old) and embrace the red dot.
Which RDS would you guys recommend? What is light weight, doesn't look too stupid on a revolver and holds up to 44 magnum recoil?
Thanks in advance for any wisdom shared.

Top is the C-More STS (Small Tactical Sight). Has switch for brightness control (hi or lo) and on/off. Very clear well defined dot
Bottom is a JPoint, which at one was the same as the Trijicon IIRC (no guarantees on that). One brightness level and on/off controlled by removing cover. I've had issues with "dot flare" (dot not clearly defined) on mine.
Also had one of the original Burris Fast Fires. Wind/Elev adjustments broke after warranty expired.
FWIW,
Paul

I have Burris FastFire 3, Leupold Deltapoint Pro, various cheap clones and latest addition is the Nikon P-Tactical Spur. The Leupold was my favorite but the new Nikon may take that position. Things I like about the Nikon:
Reasonable cost at about $220 shipped (about $130 less than the Leupold)
Remembers the last selected intensity after power down and back up
Battery replaced from top so do not need to remove sight
10 intensity levels
Clear glass
Seperate +/- intensity buttons on the side

I have 5 Fastfire IIIs on N Frames as well as some Propoints and 2X Leupold scopes. The FF III is really my favorite. With the very low mounts available they don't detract from the gun much at all. Burris has a no BS warranty and replaced one FF that I had trouble with very quickly.

I've had good luck with the Burris FFIII. I have three so far. This one is mounted to my Master Hunter with a Raptor mount.

Great pic of Nikon's Spur reflex sight. It is one of the option's I am considering for 2 44's I have. I have been holding out for Nikon's SuperDot red dot sight that is coming out sometime this year. I have a FORCE XR 2-8 on a Redhawk that is a real deer getter.

Until I had my cataract fixed the Red Dot was worse. Looked like a fuzzy blob.

I ended up getting a Vortex Venom 3moa sight. It is small, unobtrusive and gets decent online reviews. Plus, I got a good deal on it locally which means I can try it out this weekend!
Thanks to everyone with their suggestions and feedback. I'm really looking forward to trying this RDS out. Hoping I can hit targets at distance again!

I just found out that the Nikon SuperDot Red Dot sight will be out in the next 10 days. I can't wait to get one for a 9m carbine I have, should be big fun!

I started using bifocal shooting glasses with the magnification at the top so that when you look through the glasses, the sights are clear. You can find them on Amazon for cheep money and you won't have to give up your iron sights.

Go to the Brownells web site and look for a Merrit iris attachment for your eye glasses, with it you will see the rear sight front sight and the target clearly. This is if you want to use open sights this is the best option. Jeff
