Hogue round to square monogrip for 66-8, any good?
I really want to pulled the trigger on these grips but I've read that the fit is/can be loose. Anyone have experience with the round to square conversion on a 66? I have to place my order tomorrow but purchasing these "sight unseen" has me a little worried.

No complaints here either. For a modestly priced grip they're a favorite for many of mine. (The 629 got changed over to a Rd. to Sq. conversion grip too.) If by chance you don't like them you won't be out a lot of money.
Besides, having multiple grips is part of owning revolvers.

I've never had a set of Hogues that didn't fit well, I've never even heard of it happening actually. Order em up, you won't have a problem.

Welcome to the FORUM! I use Hogue wood conversions on my 686 Pro Series. They are difficult to get on, but feel good. Bob

I have bought 2 or 3 examples of the K/L-frame rubber Hogue round butt grips, all from different vendors and at different times.
None of them fit my 686 -6, 66 -6 nor the X-frame, all RB revolvers, of course.
It seems that the plastic frame that is molded into the grip is not correctly shaped at the top, where the grip is supposed to "lock" into the frame of the revolver. When tightening the stirrup screw, the top of the grip will be pushed outward on each side of the gun because of the ill fitting plastic, leaving an ugly gap between the revolver frame and the top of the grip on each side, when viewed from behind.
I have removed some material from the top of the plastic grip inserts to make a better fit, but still nowhere close to an optimal fit.
I have a N-frame round butt rubber Hogue on my 629 that is a perfect fit, as well as several wood and rubber K/L-frame round to square conversion grips for my RB K/L-frame revolvers, all fit very well.
So, to summarize my experience ;
Yay to the conversion grips, nay on the round butt grips.

Every revolver I own now wears a Hogue grip of some kind. Rubber or wood I've never had a problem. I like the palm swell they use. Fits my hand just right.
My AR's even have Hogue grips and stocks. I've never been disappointed by a Hogue product.

Awesome, so it looks like I'm good to go. Thanks to everyone who replied.
The only discouraging comment was finding out that I shouldn't get them in my favourite colour, HOT PINK BABY!!! LMAO!!!
