Default Thank you S&W

I own an M&P 340, J frame. Somehow, somewhere I lost the cylinder release button. I contacted S&W and inquired how to get replacement parts, and how much it would cost. The next day, I received an email from S&W saying, Thank you for contacting S&W. An order has been generated for the parts you requested at no charge to you. Expect 4-6 weeks for delivery. It's been about a month and my parts arrived today. Everything is mounted and the gun is at 100% again. Thank you Smith and Wesson for outstanding customer service.

Okay, I agree that it was nice that they gave you what you needed and at no cost.

FOUR WEEKS? What, why and how?
I could walk to Springfield, Massachusetts and back in four weeks.

Does the front office communicate with the parts department via carrier pigeon?

So it took 4 weeks, Smith provided great customer service by providing the part free of charge.

Some people would complain if they were being hung with a used rope. Thank you Smith and Wesson for your great customer service and standing behind your products.

I'm sorry but the lack of a sense of urgency is a concern. I would rather pay for the part and get fast delivery. We aren't talking about trinkets, we are talking about gun parts.

“Never slap a gift horse in the mouth” is an old saying that rings true today. Patience and gratitude are good attributes to have.

I order parts from S&W with some frequency, and guess what, sometimes they are out of stock and have to have more made.
Parts usually show up in a few weeks with no additional postage charges. I don't think you can expect total inventory all the time.

They seem to be backlogged quite a bit. I inquired about having a hammer replaced on a Highway patrolman [push off] and was told it would take about 6 weeks till they could get me a diagnosis of the problem.

In today's world of manufacturing, they no longer have spare parts lying around. That is wasteful both in space and money. The new business model is called lean manufacturing and it involves having only the required amount of parts on hand to produce the current model run. Wait until your new car sets for a few weeks while the dealer tries to get parts. Yes, it does happen.

I bet it just took that long for them to find the lost part and get it back to him. Nice job S&W.
