Default Trying some really thin grips on SB L frame

Ordered some Bateleur SB grips from Altamont for my 586 M and received them today. The original Goncalo Alves target grips that came with it are a bit too nice and sharp for the range. These Bateleur are very thin, only up to a max of ~ 1 1/8" thickness. They feel great in hand but I am not sure how will they feel shooting esp. full house .357 Magnum, almost like holding the gun without grips Have some smooth targets on order, expect those to be much better, but I'll try these ones first. Don't want to succumb to rubber yet, not for blued. With the Galco holster this 586 travels on the belt.

Default The Smooth Targets arrived today

The Smooth Targets arrived today. Goncalo Alves wood, slightly modified by previous owner and refinished but looking good and feeling great in hand hoping for no hand abrasion when shoothing Magnums. Few quick phone snaps.. The thin ones lasted only one day on but may return one day here or on another SB K or L...

Can you show the Bateleur grips on the gun, from the rear, to show thickness?

I hope you'll shoot the gun with them installed and report back.
They may work better than you'd think.

Are the grips named after the African Bateleur eagle? That's a formidable bird.

I need to get an Altamont catalog. Do they charge for one, and how much?

The grips look great from the side. Rather have them in smooth rosewood than a laminate, though.

That Galco holster looks terrific.

Thanks for the nice photos.

The smooth targets are much better. A 586 is just too nice a gun to have those laminate/fake wood grips.

I run smooth Finger groove Combats in my 4" 586.

Shooting stout Magnums is no issue in that gun.

Given that yours has a six inch tube and a full underlug, putting Magnums through it will be a non issue as well.

I have several Bateleur stocks and find them very comfy.
Thick in all the right places:

Now, if you want this, try a set of these:

Fit perfect on RM K/L revolvers.

I have used a few sets of stocks on my 586 no dash in addition to the targets that came with it. Like Herretts on it. Bob
