Default Another 64 has a new home

This time it is a 64-8. Great condition, a bit of Semichrome removed most of the handling marks. Lock up is excellent.
These things are addicting. Tomorrow is range time, hope she is a shooter! Some don't like the IL, it doesn't bother me, have several and haven't had any issues. This one also has the barrel insert. I will post the target results, if they are worth posting.

Also congrats! You might want to pop the grips (if you haven't already!) to see if there is any gunk or light corrosion under them. BTW, I'm a big fan of those UM grips: they seem to have been OEM on my 2 casino 64s. I had to flush the insides of my 64s with GunScrubber: seems the casino security staff sprayed lube inside them in the guise of maintenance, and it had hardened.

Default 64

I did pop the grips, also completely cleaned and lubed the inside.
It wasn't bad but is even better now. Forgot to take pictures of the target but it shot very well keeping most shots inside a 2" circle at 20 feet, offhand. I need to paint the front sight as my aging eyes find it hard to see. What color would be the best choice for indoor target?

For indoor targets with black bullseyes I find the flat white from a Bic White-Out Pen works the best for me. I have tried colors and they do not add anything to flat white on a black bull.

Congratulations on the 64! They are a good .38 workhorse. I have a -3 from 1981. I really like it, but it sees very little range time. It is a night stand gun with C.T. laser grips. Hope to add a 2" someday! Bob

Another chance to show off my favorite model 64, a 64-6 with a standard/pencil barrel installed.

Lord, have mercy, you are killing me. I have a blue M10 in that exact configuration that I use for a tux gun when performing. I have often wished that Smith would have made a no dash 64 with the round butt....

When was the pencil barrel installed?

Did you do it yourself or did a gunsmith do it?

The installation was done a few years ago by a gunsmith.
